Ahoy there, anglers! Captain Joe here, back with your weekly Lake Okeechobee fishing report. Let's dive into the current conditions and see what's biting!

Lake Okeechobee Water Level: Steady as She Goes

As of December 22, 2024, Lake Okeechobee's water level sits at a respectable 15.25 feet. Now, that's a tad lower than this time last year when we were lookin' at 15.90 feet, and even lower than two years ago when it was a whopping 16.47 feet. But don't you fret, we've seen worse, and the fish are still biting!

Weather Forecast: Pack Your Rain Gear and Your Sense of Humor!

Mother Nature's got a mind of her own, and this week she's bringin' a mix of light rain and overcast skies. Temperatures will be pleasant, ranging from the high 60s to mid-70s.  Wind speeds will be generally light, but we might see some gusts up to 25 mph, so hold onto your hats, folks!

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Forecast: Get Ready for Action!

Now, let's talk about what you came here for: the fish!

* **Bass Fishing:** With the water level slightly lower, the bass are concentratin' in the remaining vegetation. Look for 'em in the Kissimmee grass and along the edges of the hydrilla. Topwater frogs, swim jigs, and flipping creature baits will be your best bet.

* **Crappie Fishing:**  The specks are starting to school up in deeper water near brush piles and submerged trees.  Vertical jigging with small minnows or jigs will entice these tasty critters.

* **Bluegill and Shellcracker:** These panfish are still hangin' around the shallows, especially near lily pads and other vegetation.  A simple cane pole with a cricket or worm will do the trick.
