Lake Okeechobee Water Level: Steady as She Goes

As of December 15th, 2024, Lake Okeechobee's water level is sittin' at 15.41 feet. Now, that's a tad lower than this time last year when she was at 15.71 feet, and even more so compared to two years ago when she was a full 16.45 feet.  So, we're definitely seein' a bit less water out there, folks.

Weather Forecast: Get Ready for a Wild Ride

Hold onto your hats, 'cause the weather's fixin' to get a might unpredictable! We're talkin' a chance of rain almost every day this week, with some days seein' a bit more of a downpour than others.  The wind's gonna be blowin' too, changin' directions like a confused compass.  Make sure you pack your rain gear and maybe even a lucky charm for good measure!

How This Affects Your Fishing: Time to Get Strategic

Now, here's the important part: how's all this gonna affect your fishin' trip? Well, with the water level bein' a bit lower than usual, those fish are gonna be concentratin' in the remaining deeper areas.  That means you gotta think like a fish and target those spots!

* **Bass Fishin':**  Look for bass hangin' out near the edges of the grass lines and around any submerged structure they can find.  Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swim jigs are gonna be your best bet for temptin' those lunkers.
* **Crappie Fishin':**  Those specks are gonna be huddled up in deeper water too, near brush piles and submerged trees.  Break out those jigs and minnows and get ready for some tasty fillets!
