Lake Okeechobee Water Level Update and Fishing Forecast - October 31, 2024

Ahoy there, anglers! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report and boy, do we have some water to talk about!  The Big O is sittin' pretty at 16.10 feet above sea level today. Now, that's a tad higher than this time last year when she was at 16.21 feet, and a good bit higher than two years ago when we were lookin' at 15.83 feet. 

What Does This Water Level Mean for Your Fishing Trip?

Well, folks, this higher water level means we're seein' a good spread of water out there.  The fish have plenty of room to roam, which can make 'em a might trickier to find. But don't you worry, Captain Joe's got you covered! 

Bass Fishin'

With the water high, those big ol' bass are gonna be lookin' for some cover.  Head to the edges of the grass lines and you might just find yourself a lunker.  Spinnerbaits and swim jigs are gonna be your best bet for enticing those bucket mouths. 

Crappie Catchin'

Crappie, those tasty little fellas, are gonna be hangin' out in deeper water now. Look for brush piles and submerged trees, and drop a minnow or two down there. You'll be reelin' 'em in before you know it! 

Weather Forecast and What it Means for the Fish

Now, let's talk weather. We're expecting some light rain over the next few days, with temperatures ranging from the low 70s to the high 80s. That little bit of rain might just get those fish bitin', so don't let a few clouds scare ya off!
