Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – 10.31.2024

## Lake Okeechobee Water Level Update: How’s the Fishing?

Ahoy there, anglers! Captain Joe here, your trusty guide to the best fishing on Lake Okeechobee. Let’s dive into the latest water level report and see what’s biting.

As of October 30, 2024, Lake O is sitting at 16.10 feet NGVD. That’s a tad higher than this time last year (16.21 feet) and significantly higher than two years ago (15.83 feet). We’re definitely above the historical average for this time of year (15.03 feet).

**What does this mean for your fishing trip?**

* **Bass:** With the water level up, the bass are enjoying all that extra real estate. Look for them in the shallows, especially around vegetation and submerged structure. Topwater frogs, swim jigs, and flipping creature baits should all be productive.
* **Crappie:** Crappie love hanging out around brush piles and submerged trees. With the higher water, you’ll find them a bit deeper than usual. Use minnows or small jigs and target areas near drop-offs and channels.
* **Bluegill and Shellcracker:** These panfish are always a blast to catch, and the higher water levels mean more shoreline for them to feed on. Look for them in shallow, weedy areas and use crickets, worms, or small jigs.

**Weather Forecast:**

Tomorrow, November 1st, we’re expecting a high of 28 degrees with a low of 20.46. There’s a chance of light rain throughout the day with a gentle breeze from the east at 6.1 mph. Make sure you pack your rain gear and dress warmly!

**Captain Joe’s Tip:**

Remember, safety always comes first! With the higher water levels, be extra cautious when navigating the lake. Wear your life jacket and be mindful of submerged obstacles.

Tight lines and happy fishing!

Captain Joe
