Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – June 13, 2025 – Captain Joe

Howdy folks, Captain Joe here, bringing you your daily fishing report for Lake Okeechobee. Been fishin’ these waters for longer than I care to admit, and I’m here to tell you what’s bitin’ and what ain’t.

Lake Okeechobee Water Levels and Conditions

As of today, June 13, 2025, Lake Okeechobee’s water level is at 11.20 feet. That’s down a bit from yesterday (11.16 feet) and significantly lower than last year (13.17 feet) and two years ago (14.06 feet). We’re almost 2 feet below the period of record average. The inflow is 490 cfs and the outflow is -332 cfs. Navigation depths are Route 1 at 5.14′ and Route 2 at 3.34′.

This lower water level can concentrate the fish in certain areas, but it also makes navigation a little trickier. Be careful out there and watch your depth finders!

Weather Impact on Fishing

The forecast for today is calling for light rain. We’re looking at about 1.74mm of rain (0.07 inches). The wind is coming from the Southeast at around 5.44 metres/second (12 mph) with gusts up to 10.14 metres/second (22 mph). The temperature will be around 30.78°C (87°F) during the day, cooling down to 27.16°C (81°F) at night.

This weather could make for some good fishing, especially for bass. The rain can stir up the water and get them active. The wind might make it a little tougher to control your boat, so be prepared for that.

What’s Biting on Okeechobee Today?

Bass Fishing

With the rain and wind, look for bass around the edges of grass lines and near any submerged structure. Topwater lures, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits could be good choices today. The lower water levels mean the bass are more concentrated, so find the right spot and you could have a good day.

Crappie Fishing

Crappie might be a little tougher to find with the wind, but try fishing around deeper brush piles and submerged trees. Minnows and jigs are always a good bet for crappie. With the lake level down, these spots are easier to locate.

Catfish Fishing

Catfish will be biting, rain or shine! Fish the bottom with live bait, cut bait, or stink bait. Look for them in deeper holes and channels. The inflows from the tributaries could also be a good place to try.

  • Watch the Weather: Keep an eye on the radar and be prepared for changing conditions.
  • Adjust Your Presentation: If the wind is making it tough to fish, try using heavier lures or weights.
  • Stay Hydrated: It’s hot out there, so drink plenty of water.

Your pal,
Captain Joe
