Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - March 30, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake is sittin' at 12.58 feet above sea level today. That's a good bit lower than last year when she was up around 15.26 feet, and even lower than the 14.60 feet we saw two years back.

Rain, Rain, Go Away... Or Maybe Not?

Now, the weatherman's callin' for some heavy rain this evenin' - around an inch and a half! That's gonna stir things up a bit out on the water. Could make for some muddy water, but it'll also get those bass movin'.

Bass Fishin' Forecast

With the water level down and the rain comin', I reckon the bass will be headin' towards those newly flooded areas. Look for 'em around the edges of the grass and near any inlets where the water's flowin'. A good topwater frog or a swim jig should do the trick.

Crappie and Speckled Perch Update

For you crappie and spec anglers, the lower water level might make 'em a bit harder to find. They'll be congregatin' in deeper water, likely around brush piles and submerged structure. Try usin' live minnows or small jigs to entice 'em to bite.

Stay Safe Out There

Remember, safety first out on the lake. With the rain comin', the wind might pick up, so keep an eye on the sky and be prepared for changin' conditions. And as always, respect the lake and the fish.

Tight lines, y'all!
