Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - March 29, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake level is currently at 12.62 feet, a good bit lower than this time last year when it was at 15.33 feet. Two years ago, it was at 14.65 feet. This lower water level has concentrated the fish in certain areas, so knowing where to look is key.

Weather Forecast and Fishing Implications

The forecast for today is calling for light rain with a high of 66°F (19°C) and a low of 62°F (17°C). The wind will be blowing out of the east at a gentle 5 mph (8 kph). This light rain and comfortable temperature should make for a pleasant day on the water.

The light wind is a positive for anglers, as it won't push your bait around too much, allowing for better presentations. The overcast conditions from the rain can also work in your favor, as fish tend to be more active when they don't have the sun beating down on them.

What's Biting on Lake Okeechobee

With these conditions, I expect the bass fishing to be good. Look for them in the shallows early in the morning, especially around any vegetation. As the day progresses, focus on deeper water near drop-offs and ledges. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics should all be productive.

The crappie bite should also be picking up. Target them around brush piles and submerged trees using minnows or jigs. Remember to fish slowly and be patient.
