Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – March 21, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with a quick update on what’s happening on Lake Okeechobee. The lake is sitting at a bit over 12.98 feet above sea level today. That’s down about 2.6 feet compared to this time last year, and almost 2 feet lower than two years ago.

We’re in for a beautiful day on the water with clear skies and a light breeze. Should be perfect for getting out there and enjoying some Florida sunshine. Now, let’s see how these conditions might affect our fishing:

Bass Fishing:

With the clear skies and lower water levels, the bass might be a little spooky. Look for them to be holding tight to any cover they can find. Flipping and pitching creature baits or jigs around vegetation and submerged structure could be your best bet.

Crappie and Speckled Perch:

Crappie and specks love cooler water, so they’ll be seeking out deeper spots. Try vertical jigging with minnows or small jigs around brush piles and drop-offs. You might also find them schooled up near the mouths of canals.

Well, that’s the latest from Lake Okeechobee. Remember, these are just general observations, and conditions can change quickly. Always be prepared, and most importantly, get out there and enjoy the fishing!

Tight lines,
Captain Joe
