Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - March 18, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. Today's looking like a beautiful day to be out on the water, with clear skies all day. Let's see how this weather and the current lake conditions are gonna affect our fishing.

Lake Okeechobee Water Level

The lake is sitting at 13.11 feet above sea level today. That's a good bit lower than this time last year (15.75 feet) and the year before (14.96 feet). This lower water level concentrates the fish and makes them a might easier to find.

Fishing Forecast

Bass Fishing

With the clear skies, the bass should be biting well in the shallows early in the morning. Look for them around vegetation and along drop-offs. As the sun gets higher, they'll move to deeper water. Try using topwater lures early, then switch to crankbaits or soft plastics as the day goes on.

Crappie Fishing

Crappie fishing should be excellent right now. Look for them near brush piles and other structures in deeper water. Minnows and jigs are always good choices for crappie.

Speckled Perch (Specks)

Specks are biting well this time of year. You can find them in the same areas as the crappie. Small jigs and minnows are the way to go.

Get Out There and Fish!

Well, there you have it, folks. The fishing on Lake Okeechobee is looking good! Remember, always check the weather conditions before heading out, and be sure to have your fishing license. Tight lines!
