Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – March 8th, 2025

Well folks, it’s another beautiful day here in Okeechobee, Florida. The sky is clear and the fish are bitin’, or at least they should be with these conditions! Lake O is sittin’ pretty at 13.49 feet above sea level, which is a good bit lower than this time last year (16.02 feet) and even the year before (15.31 feet).

How This Impacts Your Fishing

This lower water level means the fish are gonna be a might concentrated out there. Bass fishin’ should be real good around the edges of the grass lines. You’ll want to use those topwater frogs and swim jigs to get ’em riled up.

For you crappie fishermen, head on over to those deeper channels and use some live minnows or jigs. The specks love ’em some deeper water, especially when the lake is down a bit.

Now, with this clear sky and sunshine, the water’s gonna warm up some. That’ll get the bluegill and shellcracker movin’ up shallow. Grab your ultralight and some crickets or worms, and you’ll be reelin’ ’em in no time.

Remember, this is just a quick update. Check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report, where I’ll give you the lowdown on what’s biting, where they’re biting, and what bait they’re hittin’. Tight lines, y’all!
