Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – 03.07.2025

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for March 7, 2025 | OkeechobeeFishingReport.com

Howdy from Okeechobee, folks! Captain Joe here, reporting live with today’s fishing conditions on our beloved Big O.

Right now, the lake is sitting at 13.56 feet, which is a good bit lower than this time last year (16.05 feet) and the year before (15.34 feet). That lower water level concentrates the fish and can make for some fantastic fishing if you know where to look.

The weather today is lookin’ like a mix of sun and clouds, with scattered clouds throughout the day. The wind will be blowin’ out of the northwest at a gentle 5-10 miles per hour. Temperatures are expected to top out around a pleasant 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

**What this means for your fishing trip:**

* **Bass:** This kinda weather gets the bass movin’. Look for ’em in the shallows early in the morning, especially around any vegetation. As the day heats up, they’ll head to deeper water. Try using topwater lures in the morning and switch to slower presentations like worms or jigs later in the day.

* **Crappie:** With the water being a bit cooler, crappie are gonna be hangin’ out in deeper water. Look for ’em near brush piles, submerged trees, and other structures. Minnows and jigs are always a good bet for these tasty fish.

* **Bluegill:** These fellas love the sunshine! Look for ’em in shallow, grassy areas. You can’t go wrong with a simple cricket or worm under a bobber.

Remember, these are just general guidelines. Conditions can change quickly on the lake, so always be prepared to adjust your approach. And most importantly, get out there and enjoy the beautiful day on the water!

Tight lines, y’all!

Captain Joe
