Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for February 22, 2025

Well folks, it’s another beautiful day here in Okeechobee, Florida, even if the weather is changing a bit. The lake level is sitting at 13.77 feet, which is a good bit lower than this time last year (16.33 feet) and the year before (15.70 feet). That’s something to keep in mind as you plan your fishing trips.

Lake Okeechobee Water Level Impact on Fishing

With the lake level down, we’re seeing a lot of fish moving towards deeper water. This time of year, the bass are starting to think about spawning, so you’ll find them hanging around the edges of the grass lines. The speckled perch (we call ’em crappie up north) are biting like crazy right now, especially around the Kissimmee River.

Okeechobee Weather Forecast and Fishing

The weather today is looking a little iffy for fishing. The forecast is calling for scattered clouds with a high of 62 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s about 17 degrees Celsius for you snowbirds) and winds out of the south at 7 miles per hour. A little wind can be a good thing for fishing, but too much can make it tough to control your boat. Just something to keep in mind.

Tight Lines!

That’s all for today’s quick fishing report. Remember to check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report, where I’ll give you the lowdown on what’s biting, where they’re biting, and what bait to use. Until then, tight lines!
