Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for February 23, 2025 – Clear Skies and Dropping Water Levels

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful day out on the water with clear skies and sunshine. However, that ol’ Lake Okeechobee water level is dropping, currently sitting at 13.75 feet. That’s a good bit lower than last year’s 16.31 feet and even further down from two years ago when she was at 15.68 feet.

How’s the Fishing Impacted?

This drop in the Lake Okeechobee water level is going to concentrate the fish, particularly our beloved bass. They’ll be moving to those deeper channels and holes, so keep an eye out for drop-offs and ledges. Live shiners are always a good bet this time of year, but don’t be afraid to try some slow-moving artificial lures near the bottom.

For you crappie fishermen, the lower water levels mean you’ll want to focus your efforts around any remaining vegetation and brush piles. Jigs and minnows fished slow and deep will be the ticket to success.

Get Out There and Fish!

Well, there you have it, folks. The Lake Okeechobee fishing report for today is all about adapting to the dropping water levels. Remember, clear skies make for a beautiful day on the water, so get out to your favorite Lake Okeechobee fish camp and enjoy some time on this beautiful lake!
