Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - February 6, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake is sittin' at 14.29 feet above sea level today. That's a good bit lower than this time last year when we were over 16 feet, and even lower than two years ago.

Weather Forecast and How it'll Impact the Fishin'

We're lookin' at partly cloudy skies today with a high of 74 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind will be blowin' out of the west at a gentle 5-10 miles per hour.

With these conditions, the bass should be movin' into shallower water. Look for them around the grass beds and near any structure you can find.

The crappie bite should be pickin' up too. They'll be congregatin' around brush piles and other cover in deeper water.

As for the specks, they'll be holdin' tight to the bottom in deeper water. You'll need to use live bait or jigs to entice 'em to bite.

Tips for Today's Fishin'

  • For bass, try using topwater lures early in the morning or late in the evening. As the day heats up, switch to slower-moving baits like worms or creature baits.
  • When targetin' crappie, use small jigs or live minnows. Vertical jigging around brush piles is a good technique.
  • For specks, use live minnows or small jigs tipped with minnow parts. Fish slowly and close to the bottom.

That's the report for today, folks. Remember to check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report. Tight lines!
