Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - January 22, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake is sittin' purty at 14.56 feet above sea level today. That's a touch lower than this time last year (16.17 feet) and two years ago (16.10 feet).

Weather Forecast and Impact on Fishing

We're expecting a good bit of rain this afternoon, about an inch or so. That'll get those bass movin' and groovin' in the shallows. The wind's supposed to be blowin' out of the south at a decent clip, so keep that in mind when you're pickin' your spot.

Bass Fishing

With the rain and wind, those bass are gonna be lookin' for cover. Focus your efforts around the edges of grass lines and any structure you can find. Spinnerbaits, swim jigs, and topwater frogs should all be productive choices.

Crappie Fishing

The crappie bite should be pickin' up with this weather too. Look for them around deeper brush piles and submerged trees. Minnows and small jigs are your best bet for enticing a bite.

Speck (Crappie) Fishing

If you're after specks, the cooler water temperatures should have them schooled up tight. Try using live minnows or small jigs tipped with minnows for the best results.

Well, that's the latest from Lake Okeechobee. Remember, this is just a quick update. Check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report. Until then, tight lines and good fishin'!
