Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – 01.11.2025

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for January 11, 2025

Howdy from Okeechobee,

It’s your old pal Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake is sittin’ pretty at 14.80 feet above sea level, which is a touch higher than the historical average for this time of year. Last year, she was up around 16.04 feet, and the year before that, 16.31 feet. So, we’re lookin’ at a bit less water this year, folks.

Now, the weatherman’s sayin’ we might get a sprinkle or two later today, about 0.6 inches of rain. That’s nothin’ too crazy, but it’ll stir up the water a bit. Temperature-wise, we’re lookin’ at a balmy 73 degrees Fahrenheit.

So, how’s all this gonna affect our fishin’? Well, let’s break it down:

**Bass:** With the water bein’ a tad cooler and the rain comin’ in, the bass should be movin’ up shallow. Look for ’em near the edges of grass beds and around any structure you can find.

**Crappie:** These fellas love a bit of shade, so target ’em around docks, bridges, and submerged trees. The slight rain might make ’em a bit more active too.

**Catfish:** Ol’ Mr. Whiskers ain’t too picky, but he does love a good bottom-feeding opportunity. With the rain stirrin’ things up, the bottom feeders will be out in force.

Remember, these are just some quick thoughts, folks. Check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report, where I’ll dive deeper into what’s bitin’ and where. Until then, tight lines and happy fishin’!
