Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - January 9, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing update. It's a beautiful day in paradise, with clear skies and a light breeze. Perfect weather for a day out on the water, wouldn't you say?

Lake Okeechobee Water Levels

Now, let's talk water. Lake O's sitting at 14.88 feet today. That's a touch lower than this time last year (15.99 feet) and even further down from two years ago (16.32 feet). This time of year, the lake's usually around 14.73 feet, so we're just a hair above average.

How the Weather's Affecting the Fishing

With these clear skies and a light breeze, the fish are gonna be active. The bass should be movin' shallow, lookin' for a bite. I'd recommend tryin' some topwater lures or shallow-running crankbaits around the grassy edges.

As for the crappie and specks, they'll be hangin' out in deeper water. Look for 'em near brush piles and submerged structure. A live minnow under a bobber or a jig will do the trick.

Get Out There and Fish!

Well, that's the latest from Lake Okeechobee. Remember, these are just my thoughts based on the conditions. The best way to know what's biting is to get out there and wet a line yourself! Tight lines, y'all!
