Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - October 31, 2024

Ahoy, anglers! Captain Joe here, back with your latest update on the Big O. As we cruise into November, the lake's lookin' a little different than this time last year. Let's dive into the numbers, shall we?

Lake Level

Today, Lake Okeechobee's hangin' out at 16.10 feet NGVD. Now, that's a tad lower than the 16.21 feet we saw on this day last year, and quite a bit higher than the 15.83 feet from two years back.  Remember, the lake's always fluctuatin', but this puts us in a pretty good spot for some prime fishin' action.

Weather Forecast

Hold onto your hats, folks, 'cause we've got some wind in the forecast!  Expect a breezy few days with wind speeds around 7-8 mph, gusting up to 11 mph.  We might even see some light rain showers over the next week.  Don't let a little drizzle dampen your spirits, though!  Just remember to pack your rain gear and keep a close eye on the sky.

Fishing Forecast

Alright, let's talk fish! With the water level where it's at and the wind kickin' up, I'm expectin' the bass to be movin' into those shallower areas.  Look for 'em around the edges of the grass lines and near any structure you can find.  Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swim jigs should all be workin' well this time of year.

As for the crappie, they'll be congregatin' around those deeper spots, like brush piles and submerged trees.  Break out your jigs and minnows, and get ready for some tasty catches!
