Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for April 5, 2025 – OkeechobeeFishingReport.com

Howdy from Okeechobee, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your daily Lake Okeechobee fishing report. Let’s dive right into what you can expect out on the water today.

Lake Okeechobee Water Level and Weather

As of this morning, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports Lake Okeechobee’s elevation at 12.45 feet NGVD. That’s a tad lower than last year’s 15.18 feet and the 14.44 feet we saw two years ago. With the lake level down a bit, those bass are gonna be holdin’ up in the remaining vegetation.

Looking at the forecast for today, we’re expecting some clouds with a high of 84 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius) and a light breeze around 8 miles per hour (4 meters per second). Those partly cloudy skies should make for some comfortable fishin’ conditions.

How Today’s Conditions Affect Lake Okeechobee Fishing

Now, let’s talk fishin’. With the water level down and the weather warming up, those bass are gonna be lookin’ for a good time to spawn. Focus your efforts around the edges of the grass lines and any remaining vegetation you can find. Spinnerbaits, swim jigs, and creature baits will be your best bet for enticing those big ol’ bucketmouths.

For you crappie anglers, the lower water levels mean you’ll need to adjust your tactics. Look for deeper water near brush piles and submerged structure. Jigs and minnows fished slowly will be the ticket to puttin’ some slabs in the boat.

Tight Lines and Good Luck!

Well, there you have it, folks. That’s your Lake Okeechobee fishing report for April 5, 2025. Remember, these are just my observations and the fish have their own ideas. Get out there, enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, and as always, tight lines!
