Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - March 25, 2025

Howdy folks! Captain Joe here, back with your daily Lake Okeechobee fishing report. With the lake sittin' at 12.80 feet above sea level, we're a good bit lower than this time last year (15.47 feet) and the year before (14.75 feet). That lower water level can make for some interesting fishing, so let's dive into how it might impact your chances today.

Weather Forecast and Impact on Fishing

The forecast for today is callin' for a good chance of light rain with temperatures around 95 degrees Fahrenheit. That warm water, combined with a little bit of rain, could get those bass movin' shallow. Look for them around the edges of grass lines and near any moving water.

Bass Fishing

With the lower water levels, bass might be a bit more concentrated, especially around remaining vegetation. Flipping and pitching creature baits or swim jigs around those areas could be a good bet. If you're seein' any baitfish activity, don't be afraid to throw a topwater lure early in the morning or late in the evening.

Crappie Fishing

Crappie fishing can be a bit trickier with lower water, but they're still out there. Focus on deeper water near brush piles or other structure. Small jigs or minnows under a bobber are your best bet for enticing a bite.

Other Species

While bass and crappie are the main targets on Okeechobee, don't forget about the other species that call this lake home. Catfish are always a possibility, and you might even hook into a feisty bluegill or shellcracker.

Captain Joe's Tips

Remember, fishing is always about adapting to the conditions. Don't be afraid to experiment with different lures and techniques until you find what's working. And most importantly, get out there and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather on Lake Okeechobee!

Tight lines, y'all!
