Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for March 23, 2025: Cloudy Skies and a Dropping Lake

Howdy from Okeechobee, folks! Captain Joe here with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report for March 23, 2025.

Well, the lake level is sitting at 12.87 feet above sea level today. That's down a bit from yesterday and a good bit lower than this time last year when she was at 15.52 feet. Two years ago, she was at 14.81 feet. Seems like we're in a bit of a dry spell, but that's just part of life here in Florida.

The weatherman is calling for mostly cloudy skies today with a high of 80 degrees. The wind will be blowin' out of the east at about 10 miles per hour.

**So, what does this mean for your fishing trip today?**

* **Bass:** With the water level dropping, the bass are gonna be movin' into those shallower areas looking for cover. Focus on the edges of the grass lines and any structure you can find. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swim jigs should all be good choices.
* **Crappie:** The crappie bite should be good around those same grass lines and any submerged brush piles you can find. Jigs and minnows are always a good bet for these tasty fish.
* **Bluegill:** Look for the bluegill to be hangin' out in the shallows around any kind of vegetation. Small jigs, crickets, and worms will all catch 'em.

Remember, these are just general guidelines. The best way to find out what's bitin' is to get out there and wet a line!

Tight lines, y'all!

Captain Joe
