oke Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for March 15, 2025
Howdy from Captain Joe, reporting live from the shores of Lake Okeechobee! The Big O, as we like to call it, is always full of surprises, and today's report is no different. Let's dive into the latest water levels, weather forecast, and how it's all going to affect your fishing today.
Lake Okeechobee Water Level Update
As of today, March 15, 2025, Lake Okeechobee's water level is sitting at 13.20 feet NGVD. Now, that's a tad lower than this time last year when we were at 15.79 feet, and even lower than two years ago when it was at 15.06 feet. This lower water level means the fish might be a bit more concentrated in certain areas, so keep your eyes peeled for those honey holes.
Okeechobee Weather Forecast
The weatherman is calling for a partly cloudy day with a high of 79°F (26°C) and a low of 73°F (23°C). The wind will be blowin' from the east at a gentle 8 mph (13 km/h). All in all, it's shaping up to be a beautiful day to be out on the water.
How Will This Affect Your Fishing?
With the lower water levels and pleasant weather, here's how I reckon the fishing will be affected:
- Largemouth Bass: The bass should be biting well in the early morning and late evening hours. Look for them in the shallows near vegetation and drop-offs. Topwater frogs, spinnerbaits, and swim jigs should all be productive lures.
- Crappie: The crappie bite should be good around the deeper brush piles and submerged trees. Use minnows or small jigs tipped with minnows for the best results.
- Bluegill: The bluegill should be active in the shallows, especially around docks and lily pads. Crickets, worms, and small beetle spins are all good choices for bait.
Remember, this is just a quick look at how the fishing might be affected. For a more detailed report, be sure to check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report. Until then, tight lines and good luck out there!
Captain Joe
