Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – February 15, 2025

Well folks, Captain Joe here, back with your daily dose of Lake Okeechobee fishing intel. The lake is sittin’ purty at 14.05 feet above sea level today. That’s a good bit lower than this time last year (16.33 feet) and the year before (15.83 feet). With the clear skies we’re expecting today and a high of 68 degrees, it’s shaping up to be a beautiful day to wet a line.

How the Water Level Impacts Today’s Fishing

This lower water level concentrates the fish, especially our beloved bass. They’ll be hanging out in the remaining vegetation and channels. Look for them around the edges of the grass beds and near drop-offs.

Crappie and bluegill will also be congregating in deeper water. Try using live bait or small jigs near submerged structure.

Best Bets for Today

  • Bass: Focus on the edges of grass lines and use topwater lures early and late in the day. As the sun gets higher, switch to swim jigs or creature baits.
  • Crappie: Look for them near brush piles and deeper holes. Live minnows or small jigs will be your best bet.
  • Bluegill: Target areas with submerged vegetation and use crickets or worms.

Remember, conditions on the lake can change quickly, so always be prepared and stay safe out there. Tight lines, y’all!
