Lake Okeechobee Water Level Report and Fishing Forecast for February 3, 2025

Ahoy there, anglers! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report and forecast. Let's dive into the current conditions and see what's biting!

Lake Okeechobee Water Level: A Tad Low but Steady

As of February 2, 2025, Lake Okeechobee's water level sits at 14.36 feet NGVD. Now, that's a bit lower than last year's 16.29 feet and the 15.99 feet we saw two years ago on this date. But hey, at least it ain't drainin' like a bathtub! This time last year, we were lookin' at a much higher lake, so the fishin' patterns are gonna be a might different this time around.

Weather Forecast: Keep Your Rain Gear Handy

Hold onto your hats, folks, 'cause we got some rain comin' our way! The forecast calls for light rain on and off for the next couple of days, with temperatures hangin' around the high 70s and low 80s. The wind's gonna be blowin' a bit too, so be prepared for a little chop on the lake. But don't let a little breeze scare ya off, 'cause the fish are still gonna be bitin'!

Fishing Forecast: Bass, Crappie, and More!

Alright, let's talk fishin'! With the water level bein' a bit lower than last year, the bass are gonna be holdin' up in shallower water, closer to the vegetation. Look for 'em around the edges of the grass beds and near any submerged structure. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swim jigs are all gonna be good choices for temptin' those big ol' bucketmouths.

Crappie fishin' should also be pickin' up this time of year. Look for 'em near the deeper holes and channels, especially around any brush piles or submerged trees. Small jigs and minnows are gonna be your best bet for these tasty critters.

And don't forget about the catfish! They're always a good time, and they're bitin' year-round. Head to the deeper areas of the lake and use some stink bait or cut bait to bring 'em in.

Captain Joe's Tips:

  • With the wind kickin' up, focus on fishin' the windward side of the lake. The wind will push baitfish towards that side, and the bass won't be far behind.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different colors and sizes of lures until you find what the fish are bitin' on.
  • And most importantly, have fun out there! Lake Okeechobee is a beautiful place to spend a day, whether you're catchin' fish or just enjoyin' the scenery.

Well, that's all for this week's report. Stay safe out there, and tight lines, y'all!
