Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – January 19, 2025

Well folks, ol’ Captain Joe here, back with your daily dose of Lake Okeechobee fishing news. The lake is sittin’ purty at 14.61 feet above sea level this mornin’. That’s a tad lower than this time last year (16.19 feet) and two years ago (16.13 feet).

Weather Forecast and Impact on Fishing

We’re expecting some light rain today with temperatures around 57-72 degrees Fahrenheit. That little bit of rain might just get those bass movin’ a bit. Look for them to be hangin’ around the edges of the grass lines where the water is a little cooler and the baitfish are seekin’ cover.

Lake Level and Fishing Predictions

With the lake level a bit lower than the past couple of years, the fish are more concentrated. This can make for some exciting fishing, especially for you bass anglers. The crappie and specks (that’s what we call black crappie ’round these parts) should be schooled up tight too. Look for them near any structure you can find – brush piles, submerged trees, you name it.

Remember, this is just a quick look at today’s conditions. Check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report where I’ll dive deeper into what’s biting and where. Tight lines, y’all!
