oke 10/31/2024 Weekly Okeechobee Fishing Report
Howdy folks, Captain Joe here, and it's time for another dive into the world of Okeechobee fishing. As you know, a lot of our success on the water comes down to what the lake's doing, and this week, we've got a few things to chat about.
First off, let's talk water levels. As of today, Lake Okeechobee is sitting at 16.10 feet. Now, that's a bit higher than last year's 16.21 feet, but it's lower than the 15.83 feet we saw two years ago. This is a good thing for us anglers, meaning we've got plenty of water to maneuver in, and the fish should be spread out a bit.
Now, let's look at the weather, because it's gonna play a big role in what we do. We're smack dab in the middle of fall (and it sure feels like it too!), and this week's looking like a mixed bag of sunshine, few clouds, and light winds. The wind's not expected to cause any real trouble for us anglers, and that sunshine means those fish are gonna be active, my friends!
**So, what's all this mean for what we're gonna catch?**
Well, with the water level a bit higher than last year(but lower than 2 years ago), and the sunshine and mild winds, we should see some good action on the water, even with the few clouds.
**Here's what I'm lookin' at:**
* **Bass:** They should be scattered with the warmer temperatures and those mild winds. Try working the edges of the lily pads, reeds, and the grass lines with spinnerbaits, jigs, and topwater baits.
* **Bluegill:** They're gonna be hangin' around the shallows and those lily pads. Try tossin' out some crickets, worms, or even small jigs.
* **Speckled Perch:** They'll be in the same areas as the bluegill. Worms, crickets, and small jigs should be your go-to baits.
**And remember, folks:** Respect the water, respect the other anglers, and most importantly, have some fun! The real beauty of fishing, you know?
Tight lines, and we'll see you on the water,
Captain Joe
