10/31/2024 – Weekly Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report

## 10/30/2024 Weekly Okeechobee Fishing Report

Well, howdy there, fellow anglers! Captain Joe here, back with your weekly dose of Okeechobee fishing intel. Let’s dive into the lake level, weather, and what all that means for our fishing this week.

First off, the lake’s sittin’ pretty at **16.10 feet**, which is actually **higher** than last year’s level of **16.21 feet** this time of year. That’s a little surprising, given how much rain we’ve been gettin’ lately. But hey, it’s Florida, you never know what the heck this lake’s gonna do! It’s also a good bit **higher** than the 2-year average of **15.83 feet**. So, we’re sitting pretty good for water levels this week.

Now, let’s talk weather. We’re lookin’ at a mix of sunshine and scattered showers throughout the week. The winds are gonna be pretty calm too, averaging about **5 mph**, perfect for a smooth ride out on the lake.

Now, with all that in mind, let’s get into the fishin’. With these higher water levels, the bass are gonna be spread out a bit more, but also lookin’ to put on the feedin’ frenzy. I’d start by targetin’ the **grasslines** around the **shorelines** and the **edges** of the **open water**. Throw some **topwater lures** like a **popper** or **buzzbait**, and don’t be afraid to try some **jigging** around the **weeds**.

The **bluegill** are gonna be happy as clams with all this fresh water, so get ready to break out your **crickets** and **worms** and find some **shallow water** with **lots of cover**.

The **speckled perch** are gonna be doin’ their thing in the **deeper water**, around the **docks** and **channels**. Try some **minnows** or **jigs** and you’ll likely be reelin’ in some of those tasty fish.

Now remember, this is just a general guide. The best thing you can do is get out there and explore, experiment with different lures, and find what works best for the specific area you’re fishing.

So get ready to make some memories on the Big O this week, get your lines wet, and be safe out there, ya hear? Tight lines, y’all!
