Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report: July 30, 2025 – Captain Joe’s Insights

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – July 30, 2025 – With Captain Joe

Howdy folks, Captain Joe here, bringing you your daily dose of what’s happening on Lake Okeechobee. Been fishin’ and huntin’ these parts for longer than I care to admit, and I’m here to give you the straight scoop.

Lake Level and Water Conditions

The lake level is sitting at 12.08 feet NGVD today. That’s down a bit from last year (13.56 feet) and quite a bit lower than two years ago (15.11 feet). We’re also sitting about 1.67 feet below the historical average for this time of year. The lake level hasn’t changed much in the last few days, but it’s down almost a foot from a month ago.

Here’s a quick look at the lake levels at various points:

Station Level (ft-NGVD)
L001 12.14
L005 12.08
L006 12.09
LZ40 12.01
S352 12.14
S308 11.98
S133 12.06

Inflows and Outflows

Inflows are at 3063 cfs, with Fisheating Creek contributing a good portion at 1396 cfs. Outflows are minimal at 53 cfs. The S65E structure is flowing at 1107 cfs.

Weather Impact on Fishing

The weather forecast for today is calling for light rain. The wind is coming from the southeast at about 8.7 mph, with gusts up to 16.9 mph. The high for today is expected to be around 93 degrees Fahrenheit, with a low around 79 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bass Fishing

With the lake level being lower than average, look for the bass to be holding around any remaining submerged vegetation and near structures like docks and points. The light rain might encourage some topwater action early in the morning. Focus on areas with moving water, especially near the Kissimmee River inflow. With the wind picking up, spinnerbaits and crankbaits could be productive.

Crappie Fishing

The crappie are likely to be holding in deeper water near brush piles and submerged trees. With the warmer water, try trolling jigs or minnows at different depths to locate them. The light rain shouldn’t affect the crappie bite too much, but the wind could make boat control a bit challenging.

Catfish Fishing

Catfishing should be decent, especially after the rain. Use stink baits or cut bait near the bottom in deeper channels and around the mouths of creeks. The wind might help disperse the scent and attract more catfish.

That’s all for today’s report. Remember to stay safe out there, watch the weather, and tight lines!

Tight lines and good fishin’,

Captain Joe
