Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report: July 10, 2025 – Captain Joe

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – July 10, 2025 – Captain Joe

Howdy folks, Captain Joe here with your daily Lake Okeechobee fishing report. Been fishin’ these waters for longer than I care to admit, and I’m here to give you the straight scoop.

Lake Okeechobee Water Levels and Conditions

As of today, July 10, 2025, Lake Okeechobee’s water level is at 11.48 feet. That’s about 2 feet lower than last year and over 3 feet lower than two years ago. We’re also sitting about 2 feet below the historical average for this time of year. The lake is definitely on the lower side, which concentrates the fish a bit more, but also makes navigation a little trickier in some areas. Be careful out there!

Inflows are at 1520 cfs and outflows are at 218 cfs. The lake is losing water at -1815 cfs or -3600 AC-FT.

Today’s Weather and Fishing Forecast

The weather today is calling for light rain and partly cloudy skies. The current temperature is around 81°F, but it feels like 86°F with the humidity. We’ve got a breeze coming out of the Southeast at about 9 mph, with gusts up to 19 mph. The high for today is expected to be around 87°F.

With the lower lake levels and the current weather conditions, here’s how I see the fishing shaping up today:

Bass Fishing on Lake Okeechobee

The bass fishing should be decent today. The light rain and cloud cover will keep the water temperatures a bit cooler, encouraging the bass to be more active. Focus on areas with submerged vegetation and near any remaining Kissimmee grass. Topwater lures early in the morning and late in the afternoon could be productive. As the day warms up, switch to flipping jigs and worms around heavy cover. With the water levels down, finding those honey holes where the bass are concentrated will be key. Look for areas where canals enter the lake, as these often hold good numbers of bass.

Crappie (Speck) Fishing on Lake Okeechobee

Crappie fishing might be a bit tougher with the wind, but it’s still doable. Target deeper water near structure, like bridge pilings and submerged trees. Minnows and small jigs are your best bet. The lower water levels might push the crappie into slightly deeper areas than usual, so adjust your presentation accordingly.

Bluegill Fishing on Lake Okeechobee

Bluegill fishing should be pretty good today. They love the warmer water and are usually active around lily pads and other shallow vegetation. Use crickets or worms under a bobber. With the lake levels down, focus on the edges of the remaining vegetation. The light rain shouldn’t deter them too much.

General Tips for Fishing Lake Okeechobee

  • Stay Hydrated: It’s hot out there, so drink plenty of water.
  • Sun Protection: Wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
  • Check Your Gear: Make sure your lines are in good shape and your reels are spooled.
  • Be Mindful of Navigation: With the lower water levels, be extra cautious when navigating the lake.
  • Respect the Environment: Pack out everything you pack in and be mindful of the wildlife.

That’s all for today’s report. Tight lines and happy fishing!

– Captain Joe
