Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - February 26, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The lake is sittin' purty at 13.81 feet above sea level today. That's a good bit lower than this time last year when we were lookin' at over 16 feet. Two years ago, it was closer to 15.61 feet.

Clear Skies and Calm Winds on the Big O

We're in for a real treat today with clear skies and a gentle breeze. Perfect weather to get out on the water, I'd say!

How the Lake Level and Weather Affect Today's Fishing

With the lake level down and these clear skies, the bass fishin' should be mighty fine. Look for 'em in the shallows early mornin' and late evenin' as they chase baitfish. Spinnerbaits and topwater lures should work like a charm. As the day heats up, you might find 'em movin' to deeper water near drop-offs and ledges.

Crappie and specks are bitin' good this time of year too. You'll likely find 'em hangin' around brush piles and submerged vegetation. Jigs and minnows are always a safe bet for these tasty fellas.

Remember, this is just a quick look at what's bitin' today. Check back on Monday for my full weekly fishing report, where I'll dive deeper into the best spots and techniques. Until then, tight lines and good fishin'!
