Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for February 18, 2025

Well folks, it's another beautiful day here in South Florida and Lake Okeechobee is as active as ever. The Big O is sitting at 14.04 feet above sea level today, up slightly from yesterday. That's a far cry from the 16.31 feet we saw this time last year and 15.78 feet two years ago. That lower water level means the fish are a bit more concentrated and the bass fishing should be excellent.

Lake Okeechobee Weather Forecast

The weatherman is calling for overcast skies today with temperatures in the low 70s. The wind will be blowing out of the east at around 5-10 miles per hour. Those are pretty ideal conditions for a day out on the lake.

Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing Report

With the lower water levels, the bass are concentrated in their usual haunts. Look for them around the edges of the grass lines and near any submerged structure. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and swim jigs should all be productive lures today. Just remember to fish slow and steady.

Lake Okeechobee Crappie Fishing Report

The crappie fishing has been a bit slow lately, but that should change as the water warms up. Look for them around deeper water brush piles and use live minnows or small jigs for the best results.

The bluegill are biting well right now. You can find them in the shallows near any kind of vegetation. Crickets, worms, and small artificial flies are all good choices for bait.
