Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - January 31, 2025

Howdy folks, Captain Joe here with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report for January 31, 2025. It's a beautiful day out here on the Big O, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. The lake is sitting at 14.43 feet above sea level, which is a bit lower than last year's 16.29 feet and the 16.04 feet we saw two years ago.

What This Means for the Fish

With these clear skies and comfortable temperatures, the bass should be biting like crazy! This time of year, they'll be moving into shallower waters to spawn, so keep an eye out for them around any vegetation or structure. A slow-moving shiner or swim jig should do the trick.

The crappie (we call 'em speckled perch 'round these parts) are also biting well right now. You'll find them congregating around deeper brush piles and submerged trees. Drop a minnow or jig down there, and you'll be reeling them in in no time.

Don't forget about the bluegill! They're always a fun fish to target, and they're biting well in the shallows. A simple cricket or worm under a bobber is all you need.

Get Out There and Fish!

So there you have it, folks. The fishing on Lake Okeechobee is looking mighty fine today. Grab your gear, get out on the water, and enjoy this beautiful weather while it lasts. Tight lines!
