Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report - January 29, 2025

Howdy, folks! Captain Joe here, back with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. Today's looking like another beautiful day to be out on the water, but let's dive into how the conditions are shaping up for our favorite fish.

Lake Okeechobee Water Level and Weather

First things first, the lake is sitting at 14.48 feet above sea level. That's a tad lower than this time last year (16.33 feet) and two years ago (16.05 feet). Now, we've got some broken clouds rolling in with a comfortable temperature of around 64 degrees Fahrenheit (that's about 18 degrees Celsius for you youngsters!). The wind is calm at 4 miles per hour.

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Forecast

Largemouth Bass: With the water level down and the weather mild, those bass are gonna be hanging out in the shallows, seeking that warmer water. Look for them around Kissimmee grass and reed beds. A slow-moving shiner or a swim jig should do the trick.

Crappie: The crappie bite should be picking up as they get ready to spawn. Focus on areas with submerged structure like brush piles and fallen trees. Minnows and small jigs are your best bet.

Black Crappie (Specks): Specks love cooler water, so they'll be more active than usual in these conditions. Look for them near drop-offs and channel edges. Jigs and minnows will both work well.

Well, there you have it! Get out there and enjoy the Big O. Remember to be respectful of the lake and all its creatures. Tight lines, y'all!
