Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report – 01.15.2025

Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report for January 15, 2025

Well folks, Lake Okeechobee is sitting at 14.69 feet above sea level today. That’s a good bit lower than last year when she was at 16.08 and even further down from two years ago when the Big O was at a healthy 16.21. This lower water level is definitely something we need to keep in mind as we head out to wet a line.

The weatherman is calling for scattered clouds today with a high of around 77 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind will be light and variable at around 5-10 miles per hour. These are pretty ideal conditions for fishing Lake Okeechobee.

How Will This Impact the Fishing?

With the lower water levels, we’re going to see fish concentrated in deeper water and around any remaining vegetation. This is especially true for our largemouth bass. Look for them around the edges of the grass beds and near any drop-offs.

The crappie fishing should be decent as well. They’ll be schooled up in deeper water, so focus your efforts around brush piles and submerged trees. Minnows and small jigs will be your best bet.

The speckled perch bite should also be picking up. Look for them in the Kissimmee River and canals. Jigs and minnows will work well for them too.

Overall, the fishing on Lake Okeechobee should be pretty good today. Just remember to adjust your techniques for the lower water levels and you should have a successful day on the water.

Tight lines!
